a silent walk

After a stressful time at work I was eager to use this weekend to calm my nerves and mind. What better way, than celebrating the second birthday with my godchild and staying at my parents for the weekend. They live in a suburb of Hildesheim and I always knew and loved its peacefulness.

But when my boyfriend and I took a walk, I was shocked how quiet it really was. Except for a bird here and there or the church bells on Sunday morning, there was no sound. No car, no group of loud people, no something. My ears had to adjust to this silence after living in the noisy, never sleeping city of Berlin for half a year. I’m always amazed, how we become accustomed to something and therefore change the feelings towards old things and situations.
