This weekend I had endless time for crafting. On Monday morning I woke up, feeling happy, calm and balanced. The activity of crafting was not the only factor for my happiness, but it was a big one. When I sat at the kitchen table and looked at my photos from my one year of cups-challenge, the wish in me grow, to take on a new challenge. I love looking back at these photos, knowing what I’ve accomplished going through with it for a whole year and lerning so much about photography, light and composition. So I decided to start a new 365 days challenge: I want to craft everyday for one whole year.
These are the rules:
1. Craft everyday.
It doesn’t have to be a whole new project everyday, it’s enough, if I just put some washi tape stripes as embellishment on an envelope. The important thing is, to sit down and do something creative with my hands.
2. Document everyday.
To be accountable I will document every little crafty thing with a photo and collect them in the fabulous app ‘Collect‘. There I have the perfect overview above all days and what I’ve created, because it shows one photo every day. At the end I can print every photo with date and text like you can see it here. There’s an export function to save these calendar cards from this app.
Above that, I will post the photo to Instagram and a new tumblr blog I created for this purpose. That way I have every photo in one gallery for everyone to see and follow. That’s another beauty of the Collect app: you can share the photo and text directly with Instagram or some other Social Medias or save them in your Dropbox.
3. There will be some days…
…that I don’t find the time to craft, not even a little thing. By that I don’t mean regular days, being stressed from work or full with appointments. I mean days like Christmas or birthdays, when I enjoy time with friends and family and nothing more. This is one from the lessons I lerned from my cup-challenge. Therefore I give myself permission to pause my challenge on these days, but I will have to craft two things instead of one the following day. As said before, it doesn’t have to be something big.
Wanna join me?
I would be delighted, if you join me on this exciting journey. You can simply post your photos on Instagram with the hashtag #365craftingtime. That’s all.
If you want to announce the start of your personal journey, you can use the cover photo from me or create your own.
If you want to be able to show everything you created with one hashtag, maybe you can use the official hashtag plus your name, f.e. #365craftingtimesabine or something similar.

What a great idea! I feel like I’d be making up an excuse by saying “I don’t know if I’ll have time for that right now…” and so on but I think this might be a great way to kick off 2015!! I can’t wait to follow along! 🙂
17/09/2014
No way I can keep up w/ that! I tried the photo-a-day challenge this year and didn’t make it past the first month! LOL!
But…I wish you luck! :0)

SABINE! I’m with you!
You come up with the very best ideas, and this one is speaking to me SO LOUDLY. It’s funny because a week and a bit ago I came up with 30 creations in 30 days to encourage me to make more things other than Project Life and art journaling. To use up my digital supplies now that I have a printer at home. I’m actually writing a blog post about it right now, but I got distracted 😉
I think I’ll share mine through Flickr.
Yay!

I am in like flynn! Well I’m Kellie, but you get what I mean, haha! I am usually doing something crafty everyday, so this will work in really well for me.

I would love to join you! Going to email now.
19/09/2014
Yeah, so glad you join me, Kellie 🙂 Love all of your little and bigger crafting projects.

This is so cool. Cant wait to see, what youre creating 🙂 I did something similar two years ago with 30 in 30 and it was so fun. I had it in mind, when I came up with this new challenge 🙂
19/09/2014
Thank you. 😉 Maybe you like to give it a try anyway or just cut it down to 30 days. It will be hard, but most of all real fun 🙂
19/09/2014
YesPLEASE. I’m in. 100% let’s do this!
19/09/2014
Sounds real good. Thought about starting it on New Year too, but that was far too long away. Couldnt wait to start 😉

Awesome idea Sabine!

Such a great idea, just what I need to push myself a bit more and make getting crafty more of a priority. Also sad face because the awesome looking app you mentioned above doesn’t seem to have an android version. I can’t wait to get started, thanks for sharing xo
19/09/2014
You are the very best at goal setting. You should join us in this challenge (even for a month or so). Perhaps your next habit 😉
19/09/2014
I’d love to play along. So much happiness comes from creativity, and I don’t want to neglect it as my busy season amps up.
19/09/2014
Awesome idea! I would love to join, but I’m not as crafty as you are, so I don’t see how I can keep up with 365 days 🙂 It’s maybe a better idea for me to start with 7 days or one month, ha.
20/09/2014
Yeah, so glad you aren’t waiting for the new year to start!
20/09/2014
Danke dir, liebe Andrea.
20/09/2014
oh my, Android,… so many cool apps, doesn’t work on there. 🙁 sorry to hear that. Maybe you can find an alternative. I’m sure, there must be a similar app out there for Android.
Looking forward to see what you create, Keshena 🙂
20/09/2014
Good for you & so happy you’re joining us, Jil 🙂
20/09/2014
Hey Annoesjka, I did this challenge years ago with just 30 days and it was awesome. And the good thing about creativity is, it never fades out. You will get more and more creative, if you do something everyday. New ideas will haunt you at night and you can’t wait to get up in the morning 😉
20/09/2014
How perfect. This is a huge commitment for me but I’m willing to give it a shot. I’m creative at work everyday so if all else fails I can post about a logo I’ve designed or a booklet I’ve made. Sounds fun 🙂
20/09/2014
Totally okay. Thought about this option too, since Im sometimes design something on the PC too. So happy you join us Tanyalee. 🙂
20/09/2014
I might try to do this Sabine. Great idea. I will wait till I get my phone back otherwise I am without camera. Will start in one week.
21/09/2014
I love this idea, and wish I had the desire to commit to something this big and awesome right now! I have a couple of other plans in the pipeline, and I know that another “daily” must-do would end up being stressful rather than soothing. Still, I can’t wait to follow along with what you create. I’m sure you’ll find this incredibly rewarding! Xx
22/09/2014
Hello Sabine,
I love your idea so much. This idea come in the same time I want to make a big goal about craft.
However, I would do something different by setting goal to create 100 DIY projects since I can’t stop thinking that I need to do one project a day. I think focus on number of projects would be less pressure for me.
Thanks for inspiring me and creating community of crafter (as I saw this #365craftingtime community is a bit bigger now) 🙂
22/09/2014
Hey Sarah, great you will join us 🙂 Oh my, could not live without my phone for one week. I do so much with it every day.
24/09/2014
That is soo cool. I am really thinking about joining… hm.
25/09/2014
I’ve been thinking about trying this recently. I think documenting it is a good idea as it would force me to do something on days I haven’t much time and might otherwise try and be lazy and skip it. This is just the final push I need thanks! I think I’ll also use Tumblr to blog progress.
26/09/2014
I finally have a real craft room, and I try to get in here every day – even if it is to trim down paper or print out photos. I find myself more centered and less stressed when I craft every day. I’m totally with you, but I can’t put my photos on instagram right now… they have me blocked for something (I don’t even know what, since I have only posted one photo of my Chihuahua on there).
04/10/2014
This has come at a great time for me also. I am definitely in but I am with Android too so I will have to find another app. Any suggestions anyone? I am currently getting my new blog organised (have converted to WordPress) so will this count towards getting creative? lol. Thanks for the gentle push Sabine, I really need it right now 🙂
