‘Comparision is a thief of joy’ – one of my mantras at the moment. I love all those crafty, inspiring posts and ideas everywhere, I dig what other bloggers are doing, but… I shouldn’t compare myself to them. Especially shouldn’t I be envious of their success. They worked hard for it in their own way, I have my own way of doing things and it will take time and hard work to come to the point, where others already are. It’s sometimes hard to be happy for someone else, when you are stuck with your own work. But I try to keep moving forward and don’t think too much about the success of others.
Get Messy is an art journal challenge where a gang of crafty vixens are sharing art journal pages we have created to practise our skills and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. We share our pages without restraint every week, and once a month we create around a prompt. Go check out these crazy talented ladies who are creating pages who each have a unique perspective and style. We will be sharing our work around social media so follow the hashtag #getmessyartjournal.

I love both your pages this week Sabine. The sentiment of the first one is one that I have struggled and dealt with a lot (we all do!). Your are so crafty and have great ideas, like your new project shows!

I hear you! Every week I look with eagerness at the art journal pages shared through Get Messy. Every week I have stabs of insecurity and envy — “Why didn’t I think of that? Why do I never think of that sort of thing?” I have to remind myself, it’s because I think of MY SORT of thing! “Run within yourself” the old runner’s saying goes. Competition is a choice and often not a good one at all, as it silences the little internal voices that create the truly new things in this world.
You have lovely pages.

Comparison is the thief of joy is a perfect mantra. I NEED to abide by this. This is going yo be one of my new mantras along with, ‘ make shit even if it is embarrassing.’ Thanks Caylee. And also, ‘I can’t do this but I am doing it anyway.’ Thanks Caylee again I think.

LOVE this so very much! Your lettering is perfection and I definitely need to remind myself of this sentiment often. I spend WAY too much time trying to figure out how other folks are successful at doing things. I really need to put the focus back on myself 🙂
