minialbum: be grateful

Minialbum-grateful_momentstolivefor-2

In November I had a low, thanks to the darkness and my thyroid problem. To get myself out of this low and focus on the good things in my life, I made this little minialbum or notebook. I put it on my nightstand and as soon as I would go to bed, I would write everything down, that made me feel good on this day. It helped getting me to sleep with positive thoughts in my mind and maybe even let me sleep a little better. After a month the pages were filled with positivity and good thoughts. I felt better thanks to the medicine and Christmas time, so I didn’t fill it up with new pages. But I really liked it. Maybe in time I will do it again.

For the minialbum I used mostly Project Life cards from Stampin’Up and made some myself with stickers and washi tape. The minialbum is 4’’x4” and has around 30 pages.

creative outlet: idea notebook

notebook cover with Hello Again | momentstolivefor

Just something I made the other day, when I looked for a notebook to collect my ideas offline. I treasure the Moleskine notebooks. They are the best. But I didn’t like the color of the cover. So I went through my scrapbook papers and stumbled about these pretty ones, from the collection “Hello again” from Carta Bella. The paper is very thick and heavy and feels like watercolor paper. And that’s how the patterns look too, like painted with watercolors. This is definitely my favorite scrapbook collection, with this color combination and the lovely patterns.

what’s on my craft table?

what's on my craft table? | my new notebook with washi tape triangles | momentstolivefor.com

Although the last weeks were mostly filled with putting up new furnitures and working at my new job, I managed to craft almost every day a little bit. Here you can see some of the things that wandered through my hands the last weeks.

I used the chance to organize my craft table new, so I had more space to work and for example get an overview of all the missing pens. My cats love the empty space on my desk and sit most of the time next to me, watching carefully what I’m doing. As long as they don’t run over the still wet surfaces of something painted or glued, I love to have them by my side.

Although I love my iPhone and find it more than useful for many, many things, I still need a physical notebook to write my thoughts and ideas down. I love the feeling of a pen and paper and therefore I always carry at least one with me. The covers of these two notebooks I decorated with washi tape. One is my private everyday notebook, the one with the triangles, the other is for my notes at the office. Moleskine notebooks are my absolute favorites, perfect size and not too many pages. I don’t like to write into one for too long. I just need a change of scenery from time to time.

Two weeks ago I decided to try one of those DIY’s of my ever growing collection on Pinterest in the sense of ‘stop pinnning, start making’! The ‘decorative power cord‘ idea is from the inspirational Bri from Designlovefest. I had this DIY on my mind for some time. Sadly after only two days the ends of the tape didn’t stick anymore. If you have an idea, how to fix this, please write to me. The power cord of my iPhone is so pretty, I want that it stays this way.

This is a minialbum I crafted for friends I left behind in Bremen. It contains 1000 little beautiful moments I had with them in the last four years, recorded on 1000 photos. It was such a fun time with them… really miss them.

DIY little violet notebook

Time for a new notebook. My notebooks for my daily notes last about three months, then I need a new one. I make it a sport to create a one-of-a-kind notebook every time, like my travel journal and my favorite notebook with washi tape dots. Therefore I take a regular Moleskine notebook and make it my own by using stamps, washi tapes and other crafty things.

So here is my newest creation and the one I’m using at the moment: my little violet notebook.

For the cover I used a Moleskine Cahier Journal in light violet (official Persian Lilac), silver lined washi tape, some stamps, a white stamp pad and a silver gel pen.

I stamped the whole cover and tried to align them from left to right but not down. At the bottom I had too few space left to stamp it again with the first stamp. So I chose two other and used them as an eye-catcher. All three stamps belong to the rubber stamp set ‘Capture Life‘ by I lowe Scrap.

I draw drop down shadows on one of the stamps in the center of the front cover with the silver gel pen and on the two stamps at the bottom too. Then I used the silver lined washi tape to secure the edges and make the notebook look a little more classy.

Because I need a lot of to do lists, I prepared them for about three months and put them on the first pages, so I have a better overview and can put things down, that are not due until four or six weeks later. So I stamped the Go & Do stamp by Blinks of Life (sadly no longer available) on all pages, added the week and embellished the page with a stripe of washi tape.

DIY travel journal

DIY travel journal cover by momentstolivefor

When we planned our vacation from Munich to Vienna and Prague, I knew, I wanted to document it. Because I didn’t just wanted to write a travel journal the regular way on empty, boring pages, I prepared a Moleskine notebook with my beloved stamps and washi tapes. This way I was forced to think about little things too, like what I liked about a city most, that otherwise would have been forgotten.

For the cover I took many different washi tapes, stuck them over each other in different angles and cut the word ‘vacation!’ out. I saw this technique over at Whimseybox created by Alicia Dirago. Loved her typographic washi tape art so much, so I thought, it would be fun to make something similar for this little notebook.

On our last day in Prague, we sat in a beer garden and discussed the pros and cons of our way of traveling and what we loved and hated about the cities in particular. It was fun to see the different opinions.

Furthermore I prepared some pages with To do-lists for gifts, sightseeing spots and some photo projects, to keep track of all the ideas. It was very helpful to have this notebook at hand and filled it, whenever I had the time.

For this travel notebook I used the lovely stamps of Elise Blaha, Evalicious, Bananafishstudio, Amanda Rose, Amy Tangerine, I lowe Scrap and Blinks of Life along with some washi tapes. And if you’re wondering… yes, I have a really big collection of wooden mounted rubber stamps. It was so much fun, to use them for this little project.

DIY: colorful dot notebook

DIY: dot notebook with washi tape by momentstolivefor

This little DIY is pretty simple and fast and oh so pretty, don’t you think? All you need are some cute washi tapes with different colors and patterns, that fit well together. Some wax papers, so the washi tape is easy to peel off. A new notebook with a blank cover and a 1 inch circle punch.

All you have to do is, choose two tapes and adhere them next to each other on the wax paper. Then use the circle punch that way, that both tapes fill half the circle. In this way you get a whole bunch of pretty circles with two different tapes, that you can stick easily onto your notebook cover. Just fold the circle between the both tapes, so you can grab a corner of a half circle. Have fun!
