art journal | February | momentstolivefor.com

This month was a busy one. We had a lot of gatherings with friends and family. So not much time for anything else, like art journaling. But at least I tried something new, a new art journal format: a little Moleskine cahier in A6 format. It’s perfect to use up your paper scraps and the letters are looking really big on the pages. The only thing, that bothers me, is the thin paper. If I write on one page, you can see it on the other side. So not beautiful. But maybe I have to find a new way to work with this kind of paper. How do you work with too thin paper?

This is the February prompt from Get Messy: “What is the one thing you most want your children (real or imaginary) to know about love?”. I found it hard to decide, which ‘fact’ is most important, so I wrote everything down. But it was very interesting to think about, what I would tell my future children or a good friend, who is still looking for love and struggeling. As a background I used the negative surroundings from an alphabet sticker sheet. Not sure, how it’s called. Especially with the different colors it looks so fun.

Get Messy | live more adventurous | momentstolivefor.com

Thursday and prompt day. So excited for this one, because this months I wrote the prompt and I’m so eager to see, what everyone created! I hope everyone enjoyed this little crafty adventure, even if it was hard to figure out, what to create and work with unusual materials.

I must confess, although this was my own prompt and I thought, it would be so easy, it was really hard to create a page with a new material, I never used before and let the page still look like me. These feathers waited in my crafty backlog for years to be used. Now that they are out on the page, I really like them and their bold colors. But they won’t go in my regular craft stash. They are just not my style. But I really do love this children’s book page I found on a fleamarket. Love the drawing and will definitely use more of the drawings on other pages.

It’s Thursday, it’s Get Messy time, it’s prompt day.

The prompt: Who are you?

The challenge: Don’t use a photograph of yourself.

This was the brilliant prompt from Caylee and it was a real challenge for me. Because, how do you define, who you are? Is it the things you just are, like a daughter, mother, worker. The things you do like blogging, crafting, programming or the things you love, like coffee, washi tape and photography? Or is it a combination of all of these? How do you define yourself?

Get Messy | Focus | momentstolivefor.com

Focus is one of my favorite words. I even got a temporarily tattoo of this word on my wrist last year, that I loved. Because it reminded me everyday everywhere to stay focused on the real important things.

Get Messy | Let's have a party | momentstolivefor.com

Let’s have a party! Drum roll! This is the very first prompt on Get Messy – an art journal challenge. The creative Lauren made this prompt up and if you would like to join us, hop over to her blog to read the details.

This would be one of my favorite parties: a big garden or meadow surrounded by lovely trees and decorated with lots of colorful garlands and paper lanterns. In the center a huge table with flowers as centerpiece, along with yummy cakes, bowls filled to the brim with berries and ice cream.

When you come close to this place, you hear the laughter of all of my girlfriends from around the world. They are sitting in a hammock or on picnic blankets, sipping Hugos or other summerly cocktails. And this party would last till the stars and the first fireflies appear.

I need new words. This thought was on my mind for some time now. Do you know this phenomena: you use always the same words to describe something or when you comment on a post for example? Even when I learn a new word, I use it more than I should be. Therefore this page was perfect for learning and documenting new words, that I can refer back to, if I need one.
