It’s Thursday, it’s Get Messy time, it’s prompt day.
The prompt: Who are you?
The challenge: Don’t use a photograph of yourself.
This was the brilliant prompt from Caylee and it was a real challenge for me. Because, how do you define, who you are? Is it the things you just are, like a daughter, mother, worker. The things you do like blogging, crafting, programming or the things you love, like coffee, washi tape and photography? Or is it a combination of all of these? How do you define yourself?
Focus is one of my favorite words. I even got a temporarily tattoo of this word on my wrist last year, that I loved. Because it reminded me everyday everywhere to stay focused on the real important things.
Get Messy is an art journal challenge where a gang of crafty vixens are sharing art journal pages we have created to practise our skills and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. We share our pages without restraint every week, and once a month we create around a prompt. Go check out these crazy talented ladies who are creating pages who each have a unique perspective and style. We will be sharing our work around social media so follow the hashtag #getmessyartjournal.
get messy. get crafty.

Defining ourselves is so hard because we are so many things at once. Simply saying that we are for example a mother does not mean that’s who we are (even though we are!). It’s hard to put it into art, but you did a beautiful job. I could see immediately that it’s your page without seeing what you wrote. I love your style, it’s not like anyone else’s.

I love your page visually, but the way you chose to capture some of your roles, traits, and passions is also very cool. Fresh take on the prompt!

Thank you so much, Caylee. The challenge was very difficult at the start, but now I have the feeling I want to dig deeper, who I really am and how I define myself. Thank you for this 🙂

Lovely pages. We share lots of similar words. Unsurprising I suppose. I want to see your tattoo now. I am thinking of getting one but not sure what.

So gorgeous and clean. Your use of bold colours is great – I’m never brave enough for that but I might have to try something brighter next time! Xx
