round & round #4 in Munich

round & round #4 - Munich by momentstolivefor

On our vacation I made it a point to take at least one round & round photoshoot at every city. So today I start with my round & round photos from Munich. We visited the Viktualienmarkt in the morning, where we ate a typical Bavarian breakfast with Bavarian veal sausages and pretzels. It was really, really yummy, I can recommend it, although it’s strange at first to eat sausages for breakfast, if you are a cereal person.

After this tasty breakfast we took a walk around the Viktualienmarkt. There were many amazing market stands with flowers, vegetables and fruits, bread, decorations and many more. It was fascinating to see for example 20 different varieties of potatoes or fruits from all around the world. So I decided to do the photoshoot there, because it promised many interesting motives. But see for yourself.

day in the life 2013

my cat woke me up - day in the life 2013 by momentstolivefor

Do you know the project ‘Day in the life‘ by Ali Edwards? It’s such a cool photography project to document your real life, not just the special occasions. The little things, your everyday. The main challenge is to take photos the entire day through and document your actions and your daily routines.

I wanted to do this for some time now and yesterday I finally managed to start with it at the moment I woke up. I placed my iPhone at my nightstand, when I went to bed the night earlier, so I had it at hand in the morning. I challenged myself furthermore by using the VSCOcam and one special filter ‘T2’. I chose this filter, because at the moment I love the faded colors and minimalistic photostyle of Ronnie of Pink Ronnie and Liz of paislee press and wanted to get better in photography. I wanted to change my usual focus and now am pretty proud of myself, that I managed to learn this over this one day. Always amazed how fast one can learn new techniques, if you just concentrate on them for a little while.

Did you do this project yourself? What did you learn? I really like to hear about it. I want to do ‘Day in the life’ at least one time a year. What better way to document the changes in your life over the years. It’s these little things, that become big in the end.

round & round #3

round & round #3 by momentstolivefor

When I left the office last Monday, I was stressed out by this busy work day. I stepped out the door into the warm sunlight and new instantly, that I wanted to make a relaxing bike tour; and that it was time to try a new road. Fortunately I had the good sense to pack my camera in the morning, so I stopped on the way and made a new ’round & round’ photoshooting.

When I look at the photos now, I feel the warm sun on my skin, fresh air filling my lungs and my busy heartbeat calms down.

round & round #2

round & round #2 by momentstolivefor
When I came back from work and ran some errands in the city, I walked by this spot and immidiately decided to make a new ’round & round’ photoshooting. A few hours earlier it had rained, therefore all leaves were still sprinkled with raindrops, that sparkled beautiful in the sunshine. Love the bright green colors.

You can find my first ’round & round’ photos here and how it works. It’s a little game to get better in photography and search for little details, that would be otherwise unnoticed. It’s unbelievable, how many beautiful spots you can find in such a small space, if you just look closely and long enough. It’s amazing.

photo walk: fleamarket finds II

wall of buttons {photo walk: fleamarket finds II by momentstolivefor}

I’m always amazed, what I find on fleamarkets. Everytime there are new, unexpected things. Especially happy I become, when I see things, that once belonged to me or played with in childhood days. Then suddenly some long forgotten memories pop up in my head and lead me back to those happy times. How do you feel, when you find something long forgotten on a fleamarket?

Although I already did a photo walk: fleamarket finds, I couldn’t resist taking new photos on our walk around my second favorite fleamarket – happens every Sunday at the Bürgerweide in Bremen. My favorite one is also the biggest in Germany – it takes place once a month in Bonn at the Rheinaue Leisure Park. Next we will visit different fleamarkets in Berlin and hope to find some unique things for decoration and furniture for our home. What do you search for on fleamarkets?

new photo project: round & round

photo project: round & round #1 by momentstolivefor

A few days ago the sun was finally out – blue sky, sun everywhere. I didn’t want to just shoot some photos, but challenge myself again. Because I didn’t had the time to drive far, suddenly I had the idea. What if I just choose one point to stand and shoot everywhere around – 360°. Try to capture every beauty that’s around. And that’s when it hit me. That’s my new photo project, additionally to the photo walks with a special theme, this is perfect to get better in photography, to watch out for little details and try to make the best out of every situation. And here’s the result, pretty aren’t they? 🙂

two photo challenges

late cup of coffee by momentstolivefor

Hey there lovely readers! 🙂 Do you set your New Year’s resolutions for 2013? I meditated about, what I want to achieve this year and one major goal is to get better in photography. And so I decided not just to take even more photos or do one tutorial after the other, but to challenge myself on a theme, that I would have to capture every day. Since I couldn’t determine between those two challenges, I will do both. And here’s what I came up with:

everyday photo – photos of an everyday life

everyday photo - a 365 challenge

The first one is to take every day a photo of my everyday life. I love these beautiful photos, which I collected on my “everyday life” Pinterest board and which inspired me to do this challenge. I think it’s important to capture not only special moments in life, but the normal routine things as well, because that’s what your life is all about. These are the small things that make your life your life; these little things define you and your life.

one year of cups
one year of cups - a 365 challenge

The second one is simply a challenge to get better in photography and develop new photography styles. The goal: take a photo of a cup every day. I know it can be a really hard challenge, but I hope that it will exceed my limit and inspire new ideas, like Elsie experienced with her self-portrait challenge. You can follow my challenge here.

I’m very excited about these two and how they will challenge me. Love the idea of testing new apps and filters on the photos. And hopefully I will discover new techniques and maybe even a photostyle of my own. 🙂

have a good start into the new work week

photo project: bed-to-bed distance

bed and tachometer

This was my second photo project on my big biketour, beside the 25 km photo project. I didn’t wanted to just take photos of every room or house I stayed over night and put them next to each other, but remember something special about this place. And what better way to recall a place by remembering where you slept: the bed. So I shot every evening, when I arrived, a photo of the bed and, the important part, with my tachometer on it. This way I still can remember how many kilometers I rode that day and how much I longed for the bed 😉
